Talk: Men And Women Are Different But Equal & Plights of the Palestinians in Gaza

Alhamdulillah, Khalifah Youth Circle of Khalifah Institute is privileged to host a talk by Sis Nurhana Dato Ibrahim Abdullah who is currently living in Jordan. She will also give a first-hand account on Life in GAZA.

Details of the event are as follows:

Special attraction: Sale of merchandise (key chains, bags, small purse, prayer clothes and more) specially made by the Palestinians themselves and books written by Sis Nurhana

About the speaker:
Sis Nurhana is a writer, researcher and women’s rights activist. She had her secondary schooling at Kolej Tunku Kurshiah, Seremban (1967- 1971), graduated in English Literature from University of Malaya and did her Postgraduate studies in Linguistics at University of Wales UK. She has held a number of lecturing posts in a number of universities including University Technology Mara, University Malaya, Australian Matriculation College ITM and Islamic College of Zarka Jordan.

She is married to a Palestinian Jordanian Professor Fahmi Mahmoud of Zaytoona University and resides in Jordan with her seven children. She is at present the Director of Ibn Nafees Institute for Scientific Research and Women’s Studies Amman Jordan.

Books she has authored:
• Women’s Fiqh
• Stories of Women Behind the Veil
• Family Violence in the West
• Prohibition of Pork in the Holy Quran
• The Greatest Scientists of All Times Ibn Haytham & Al-Razi
• Men and Women Are Equal But Different

Her works also include the translation of ‘AIDS: The Untold Story’ and ‘A Collection of South East Asian Stories’. Her international research papers include the Status of women in Islam and the marriage of Prophet SAW to Aishah RA.
